ABOUT US

Project R.I.C.E.+ is an annual initiative led by a team of inspiring youth leaders from the Singapore Red Cross. This team is committed to supporting vulnerable families in our local community and dedicates their time to gather and distribute food and essential items to families-in-need across Singapore.

OUR STORY

2008

Started by

SMU Red Cross Youth Chapter

with rice as the main donation to vulnerable families.

2016

Donations expanded to include daily essentials 

to better cater to the needs of our community

2023

$561,681 raised during Project R.I.C.E.+ 2023

 to extend aid to more than13,000 households.

2024

Our 27-person strong committee aims to fundraise $600,000 

for the beneficiaries of Project R.I.C.E.+ 2024

We have collaborated with a multitude of community partners from family service centres to community centres to service organisations like the Salvation Army to reach out to beneficiaries.

HOW DO WE OPERATE?

Planning Phase

An analysis of all our beneficiaries’ needs will be conducted during this phase to ensure that everyone’s needs are met and fulfilled.

Fundraising Phase

Public is encouraged to contribute to our cause at Sheng Siong supermarkets or through our online platforms. Organisations can reach out to us for sponsorships. All funds raised will be used to purchase bundle sets for our beneficiaries or cover any operating costs.

Packing & Distribution Phase

The project committee, along with volunteers, will heading down to various social service agencies to aid in the packing and distribution of the bundle sets.

Beneficiary Engagement Phase

At this stage, the project committee gathers to engage with the beneficiaries. Various activities, including demonstrations on healthy cooking using the bundled items, will be conducted to provide valuable information and support.
